The progressive addition of new aircraft and new routes means Tiger Airways Australia’s winter 2011 schedule will offer 20 per cent more capacity than the airline’s winter 2010 schedule.
For the winter schedule between April and November Tiger will increase its 13 weekly Melbourne to Perth flights to 20 with a new daytime daily service, and will add another flight to its current three times weekly Melbourne to Alice Springs service. As part of the lead up to its winter schedule, Tiger will also add two new routes, with daily services between Sydney and Brisbane (to start from February 7) and Sydney and the Sunshine Coast (from March 27). Both new services will feature three daily return flights at a total of 21 flights per week.
Tiger Airways managing director Crawford Rix labeled the addition of more flights and new services as “an exciting period” for the airline. “The new season schedule not only represents the largest number of seats and destinations that we have ever operated, it also features extra capacity on a number of popular routes including Melbourne-Perth and Melbourne-Alice Springs,” Rix said.
Tiger is set to receive its eleventh A320 for domestic Australian operations in April, and “is scoping out locations for a fourth Australian base to be announced in due course,” the airline says.
