Superjet marks first month in commercial service

written by WOFA | May 24, 2011

Sukhoi’s new Superjet 100 (SSJ100) airliner has flown its first 66 flights in commercial service, transporting 2885 passengers across a combined distance of 85800km for Armavia Airlines during April-May.

Launch customer Armavia, an Armenian-based airline, took delivery of its first SSJ100 on April 19, and has since clocked over 168 flight hours with the aircraft, performing its first commercial flight on April 21 from Yerevan to Moscow (Sheremetyevo). Sukhoi reports that there have been no complaints regarding the airworthiness of the Superjet so far, with Armavia planning flights to a host of international destinations throughout Russia, the Ukraine, Greece, Syria, Italy, Iran, Israel, Lebanon and France.

“SSJ100 perfectly fits ‘Armavia’ fleet, containing mostly CRJ200, А319 and А320 aircraft. Owing to high economic efficiency and good operational capabilities we can schedule the aircraft both to regional and to short-haul routes – basing on current passenger load per each flight.” Armavia owner Mikhail Bagdasarov, said in a statement.
