Embraer assembles first fuselage for Legacy 500

written by WOFA | July 18, 2011

Embraer has announced that the first fuselage of its new Legacy 500 executive jet has been assembled in Brazil, as the aircraft moves closer to making its first flight later this year.

All three fuselage sections (cockpit, centre and aft) were joined at the manufacturer’s São José dos Campos facility, with Embraer using aluminium alloy and composite materials in the construction of the Legacy 500’s airframe.

“The joining of the fuselage sections of the first prototype is a key milestone in our development schedule, and we will join the second one in the near future,” Embraer vice president, programs – executive jets, Maurício Almeida said.
