Jetconnect cops $12,000 fine after breaking curfew

written by WOFA | August 11, 2011

Qantas subsidiary Jetconnect has been fined NZ$12,000 after a late landing broke the curfew at Wellington International Airport during September last year.

The airline pleaded guilty to breaching the curfew at the airport, and was handed the fine by Wellington District Court Judge Jan Kelly. The fine is expected to be paid to Wellington City Council, which has a strict curfew for international flights between 1am and 6am, together with a 30 minute ‘period of grace’ for delayed flights.

Jetconnect’s breach occurred at 1:47am on the morning of September 18, after the airline suffered prior delays in Sydney and was unable to divert to Christchurch due to personnel shortages at the airport.
