Virgin Australia has marked the 10th anniversary of its first international flight, DJ007 between Christchurch and Brisbane on January 29 2004, by announcing eight new codeshare agreements.

The new codeshares are with Delta Air Lines, Etihad Airways and Singapore Airlines on services to Seattle, Boston, Zurich, Minsk, Medina, Rome, Athens and Brunei.

“Over the past 10 years, we have operated over 100,000 international flights, carrying around 15 million passengers,” chief commercial officer Judith Crompton said in a statement. “Our strategy of flying into key international hubs and creating a virtual global network with our alliance partners has brought significant benefits for consumers and for our business.”
