Franco-Italian regional turboprop manufacturer ATR has recorded 100 sales for its ATR-42 and ATR-72 models in just the first four months of 2014.

The company says its products currently account for 80 per cent of all regional aircraft sales up to 90-seats announced to date this year, and already exceeds the 89 total sales it logged in the whole of 2013.

“This is already a very dynamic year in terms of sales and we expect our order intake to further grow very soon”, ATR CEO Filippo Bagnato said in a statement. “Such outstanding results highlight the strong work which is done daily by every ATR employee. Based on these positive results, our current backlog largely exceeds 300 aircraft.”

While many of the orders have already been ‘booked’ by the manufacturer, only 26 have been attributed to customers so far, with DAE taking 20 72-600s, and Binter Canarias ordering six. The company says it expects the balance to be “unveiled in the coming weeks.”
