The Black Knights are to make their Avalon debut.

The Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) is to send three F-16Cs of its Black Knights formation aerobatic display team to the Avalon Airshow.

In the team’s Australian International Airshow debut, the Black Knights “will perform an exciting and highly memorable display”, the airshow organisers said on Monday, without providing further detail.

It is expected the Black Knights will perform a two-ship display, with the third aircraft a spare.

Normally the full Black Knights team flies six F-16Cs, but its appearance at Avalon is still a major coup for airshow organisers, as the Black Knights will be the first foreign military formation display team to perform at the show in its 23-year history.

The RSAF will also send two PC-21s turboprop trainers from its Flying Training School based at RAAF Base Pearce north of Perth.

The Australian International Airshow and Aerospace and Defence Exposition will be held at Avalon Airport from February 24 to March 1.
