Northrop Grumman has awarded the second Australian supplier contract for the initial production lot of the MQ-4C Triton unmanned aircraft system (UAS) to Mincham Aviation.
The South Australian company is set to manufacture structural components for the first four low-rate initial production (LRIP) air vehicles. This second Australian supplier contract follows the one recently awarded to Ferra Engineering for the manufacture of mechanical subassemblies.
“We are pleased to be able to further demonstrate our ongoing commitment to developing and fostering capabilities in local supply chains,” stated Ian Irving, chief executive of Northrop Grumman Australia. “We will continue to look to offer opportunities to quality-focused Australian companies to be involved in the production and sustainment of Triton.”
Northrop Grumman stated that its engagement with Mincham Aviation and Ferra Engineering was facilitated through Defence’s Global Supply Chain (GSC) program, which helps to create opportunities for Australian companies in the supply chains of multinational companies and their major suppliers.
