Regional carrier FlyPelican is adding a new destination from Newcastle with flights to Dubbo starting in July.
The service will be operated by 19-seat Jetstream 32 aircraft, with morning and afternoon departures from both cities on weekdays.
FlyPelican chief executive Paul Graham said the first flight would take off on July 18.
“We are thrilled to be expanding our network and increasing capacity into both of these growing airports,” Graham said in a statement.
“The key to making this a successful route will be to provide a full day at each port for business and offer affordable fares that are within the budget of the leisure market”.
Currently FlyPelican serves Ballina (Byron Bay), Canberra and Sydney from Newcastle. The airline, which was previously a charter and fly-in/fly-out operator before starting regular public transport service in June 2015, also flies between Sydney and Mudgee, a NSW government regulated route.
Dubbo Mayor Councillor Mathew Dickerson welcomed the launch of the new flights.
“This route opens even more opportunities for business and family travellers going to or coming from Newcastle and the Port Stephens area,” Dickerson said.
The addition of Newcastle brings to six the total number of destinations served from Dubbo Airport. Jetgo flies to Melbourne (Avalon) and Brisbane, QantasLink has flights to Sydney and Regional Express operates to Cobar, Broken Hill and Sydney.
