BAE Systems Australia has started providing operational maintenance for the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) Hawk 127 lead-in fighter fleet, creating 116 new jobs.
The company is now delivering all Hawk maintenance support on the flightline at RAAF Base Williamtown and RAAF Base Pearce.
Under a new arrangement, BAE Systems is responsible for aircraft launch and recovery, rectifications, life support, stores and mission equipment, on-site management support and deployed operations. Operational maintenance was previously provided by 76 Squadron and 79 Squadron.
“We have expanded our skills and expertise to deliver this combined sustainment role, hiring new aircraft technicians, team leaders and maintenance support staff,” stated Steve Drury, director for Aerospace.
