In a boon for wearable tech devotees, Air New Zealand says passengers on its domestic and international flights will be able to operate their Bluetooth devices ‘gate to gate’ from this Thursday, provided the devices are set to flight mode.
“This means customers can remain connected with their wearable Bluetooth tech such as Fitbit devices, Apple Watches and Bluetooth headsets, as well as operate a wireless mouse and wireless keyboard during cruise,” the airline said in a statement on Tuesday.
Gate to gate approval is limited to lightweight personal electronic devices, Air New Zealand said, with the use of larger Bluetooth equipped devices restricted to cruise flight.
The airline said it secured NZ Civil Aviation Authority approval for the use of Bluetooth devices “following comprehensive testing conducted across its fleet”.
