Skywest has released its operating statistics for February, showing an increase in passengers on its regular public transport (RPT) services, although charter services were down slightly compared to the same time last year.
For the month, the airline recorded a 14.3 per cent increase in RPT passengers carried, which went up to 25,000. This helped to increase RPKs by 30.3 per cent, which was marginally higher than the 30.1 per cent increase in capacity, resulting in a 0.08 percentage point increase in load factor to 49.4 per cent. For the financial year to date, RPT load factor has increased by 2.7 percentage points to 54.3 per cent.
The airline’s statistics also show that there was a 6.7 per cent fall in the number of charter services it operated during the month, with 210 flights operated. As a result, charter capacity, in terms of available seat kilometres, decreased by 2.1 per cent. Despite the fall in February, charter capacity for the financial year to date is up by 10.8 per cent.
