Tiger Airways has announced that Crawford Rix has been appointed as the managing director of its Australian operations, taking over from Shelley Roberts who has held the position since mid 2008.

Rix is currently the managing director of UK low cost carrier bmibaby, and has had extensive experience with a number of carriers in the UK. Tiger says that Rix is serving his notice period with bmibaby and it will announce his joining date once it has been determined.

In announcing the new appointment, Tiger Airways CEO Tony Davis thanked Roberts for her contribution to the low cost carrier. “Shelley has established Tiger Airways Australia as a major national airline, and led it from infancy to profitability,” he said. “After completing her hand-over to Crawford, she intends to take a well deserved break. We would like to thank her and wish her continued success in her future endeavours”.
