Virgin Blue and Virgin America have signed an agreement which will allow access from each carrier’s loyalty programs, as well as a cabin crew exchange program between the two carriers.

As a result, Velocity members will be able to earn and redeem points on Virgin America services, while members of that airline’s Elevate program will be able to do likewise on Virgin Blue and V Australia services.

“The new agreement is another example of our Virgin airlines working closer together for the benefit of our guests,” said Virgin Blue CEO Brett Godfrey. “Our aim is to encourage more travellers from throughout the US and from our part of the world to plan their trans-Pacific travel with our growing airline family.”

The two airlines have also launched a crew exchange program which will commence in October this year, allowing cabin crew from Virgin Blue to undertake a one year exchange to work with Virgin America and vice versa. “The goal of the program is to give each airline’s teammates the chance to experience work and life at another Virgin-branded carrier,” the two carriers said in a statement.

Virgin Blue and Virgin American already cooperate by interlining passengers from V Australia’s services to Los Angeles through onto the VA network, which is primarily focused on US transcontinental services.
