China Southern lures Cathay sales exec
Longtime Australian airline executive Derek Morris has joined China Southern Airlines’ regional sales and marketing department in Sydney. Morris comes to the job after 27 years with Cathay Pacific Airways, the past 15 years as its sales and marketing chief in Sydney. He began with British Airways in Perth.
Sukhoi Superjet wins EASA certification
The European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) has issued type certification for the Sukhoi Superjet 100, the first ever Russian passenger jet to receive EASA CS-25 certification. Tiger eyes extra flights, second hub
Tiger Airways continues adding flights as it claws back from last year’s suspension and eyes a second base of operations. The budget carrier this weekend announced plans to fly an additional daily return service between Melbourne-Sydney and Melbourne-Perth starting in April. That comes on the back of plans to bolster services from Tiger’s Melbourne hub
Air Namibia orders two A319s
Air Namibia has ordered a pair of Airbus A319s and plans to use the 112 passenger aircraft on regional routes connecting Windhoek to other major African cities. The Namibian national carrier currently operates two leased A319s on regional routes as well as a pair of A340-300 aircraft on its international route connecting Windhoek and Frankfurt.
Adelaide flight school buys Diamond DA40s
Hawker Pacific has announced the sale of as many as 26 Diamond DA40 CS aircraft to Flight Training Adelaide, with the first four set for delivery by mid year. Eight of the single engine four-seaters are scheduled to be delivered in 2012, with the flight school taking options on 18 additional aircraft scheduled for delivery
