The first Airbus A220 jet assembled at the Mobile plant in Alabama carried its maiden flight on 2 June. The aircraft is destined for the U.S. carrier Delta Air Lines.
In a statement released Tuesday, Qatar chief Akbar Al Baker claimed the airline to have repatriated 1.8 million individuals worldwide since the beginning of the outbreak.
The flag carrier had originally announced plans to acquire Air Transat, the country's third largest airline, in May 2019. An offer was subsequently made at C$13 per share, or an all-cash bid of C$520 million.
