Longtime Australian airline executive Derek Morris has joined China Southern Airlines’ regional sales and marketing department in Sydney. Morris comes to the job after 27 years with Cathay Pacific Airways, the past 15 years as its sales and marketing chief in Sydney.  He began with British Airways in Perth.

The European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) has issued type certification for the Sukhoi Superjet 100, the first ever Russian passenger jet to receive EASA CS-25 certification. Air Namibia has ordered a pair of Airbus A319s and plans to use the 112 passenger aircraft on regional routes connecting Windhoek to other major African cities. The Namibian national carrier currently operates two leased A319s on regional routes as well as a pair of A340-300 aircraft on its international route connecting Windhoek and Frankfurt.

BAE Systems has for the first time successfully demonstrated the ability for an unmanned aerial vehicle to recover to an airfield which is unfamiliar to its mission system. The demonstration – conducted at West Sale in Victoria – was conducted by a Kingfisher 2 UAV, and also saw the vehicle successfully integrate into nearby RAAF
