Qantas will end Boeing 747-400/400ER flights to the United States mainland in December 2019 when it switches the Sydney-San Francisco route to the 787-9 Dreamliner.
Qantas has received its eighth Boeing 787-9, with the aircraft arriving in Melbourne after its ferry flight from the United States late on Thursday evening.
Qantas has scheduled Hong Kong as the first Asian destination with its Boeing 787-9 fleet, with flights to the Special Administrative Region to begin in mid-December. The first 787-9 service to Hong Kong is due to take off on December 13 2018, when the aircraft replaces the Airbus A330 on Qantas’s daily Melbourne-Hong Kong service
Qantas has taken delivery of its fifth Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, with the factory-fresh aircraft touching down in Melbourne on Sunday evening. Registered VH-ZNE, Qantas says the aircraft has been named Skippy, joining VH-ZNA Great Southern Land, VH-ZNB Waltzing Matilda, VH-ZNC Quokka and VH-ZND Emily Kame Kngwarreye.
