Tiger celebrates two years in Australia

written by WOFA | November 23, 2009

Tiger Airways Australia celebrated its second anniversary on November 23, launching a sale which will see 100,000 tickets sold for only $2.

“We’ve come a long way since our first flight left Melbourne airport at 6:15 am on 23 November 2007 bound for the Gold Coast,” said managing director Shelley Roberts.

“Two years on, having successfully navigated through one of the toughest times in aviation history, Tiger Airways has proved we are the undisputed low fare leader and also proved that we are here to stay as we continue to go from strength to strength.”

To date, the carrier has carried over 2.5 million passengers in Australia, and it says that over 80 per cent travelled on fares less than $100.
