United Airlines will operate additional services on the Sydney-Los Angeles route over the December-January peak season.

From December 1 to January 9 the airline will operate a second daily service between Sydney and Los Angeles, while from January 10-31 it will operate three additional services each week.

United is seen by some analysts as the weakest of the four airlines servicing the Sydney-Los Angeles route, particularly since fellow US carrier Delta Air Lines entered the market last year. However, the level of competition on the route is expected to reduce over the next year, particularly if V Australia and Delta receive approval to cooperate on their services.
