Lufthansa has announced that Beijing and Tokyo will be the first routes to receive regular A380 services, the first of which will be delivered on May 19.

From June 11, the German flag carrier will operate three weekly services with the A380 on the Frankfurt-Tokyo Narita route, followed by a three times weekly A380 operation on the Frankfurt-Beijing route from August 26. Prior to that, Lufthansa will also use its first A380 for a special flight to Johannesburg on June 6 to transport the German national football team and a group of supporters to the FIFA World Cup.

Lufthansa’s A380s will be configured to carry 526 passengers, with eight first class seats and 98 business class seats on the upper deck and 420 economy seats on the main deck.
