Legacy 650 on track

written by WOFA | May 5, 2010

Embraer has announced that its Legacy 650 is on track to be certified during the second half of the year, with approximately 95 per cent of its ground and flight tests completed.

“The Legacy 650 test campaign has gone smoothly and the results have been as expected. The airplane benefits from the proven DNA of the Legacy 600, offering enhanced capabilities with the updated cockpit and increased range,” said Maurício Almeida, Embraer’s vice president, programs – Executive Jets.

The aircraft was launched at last year’s NBAA convention, and offers extended range over the Legacy 600 (which is based on the airframe of the ERJ-135 regional airliner) through the addition of a ventral tank and a new central wet wing box, and reinforcements to the wing structure and landing gear. The aircraft also receives updated Rolls-Royce AE 3007A2 engines, which achieved FAA type and production certification in mid April.

Embraer currently expects certification during the second half of the year by Brazil’s National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC) and EASA, followed by FAA certification. The first delivery is planned for this year to a Europe-based customer.
