Skywest has been granted an extension to its turboprop route licence until February 27 2011, ahead of the opening up of some of WA’s intrastate routes.
“The company understands that in the next few months the Western Australian government will continue its review of Intrastate Airservice Arrangements and the composition of the routes subject to licensing by way of various requests for proposals,” read a statement from the company issued on May 20. “Skywest will once again participate in relevant request for proposal processes.”
The WA government has proposed to open a number of routes which were operated solely by Skywest and Skippers Aviation as part of its review of intrastate air services. The government recently put out a request for proposals for the route network, with responses due by July 29.
