Pilots get back-paid

written by WOFA | June 8, 2010

An investigation by the Fair Work Ombudsman (FWO) has resulted in an aviation operator in southwest Victoria being required to reimburse three pilots $50,000 in underpaid wages, entitlements and allowances.

The unnamed operator will not have any further action taken against it by the FWO after it agreed to voluntarily rectify the underpayments. The largest underpayment is $19,500, and the operator has agreed to a payment plan with the three pilots.

The FWO says that it has also intervened in the case of a pilot based in Katherine last month who was found to have been underpaid by $17,000 after he was not paid for all hours worked, did not receive payment in lieu of notice or annual leave entitlements.
