Sukhoi Superjet 100 (SSJ100) SN95003 has successfully completed water ingestion tests on its engines and APU, clearing the type for takeoffs and landings from wet runways.

The tests were conducted at Zhukovsky based Sukhoi Civil Aircraft Company’s flight test centre. A special 70m long pool was constructed on the runway, filled with water to a depth of 40 mm. The aircraft completed 27 runs at speeds ranging between 10kt and 150kt at different engine modes, with special attention paid to low speed modes, takeoff mode and with maximum thrust reverser deployed.

The first SuperJet is due to be delivered to launch customer Aeroflot by the end of the year.
