The RAAF’s C-130 Hercules fleet recently experienced two emergency landings due to cockpit smoke and fumes in two days.

The first incident occurred at RAAF Base Richmond on June 3, while the second happened on another aircraft the following day at RAAF Edinburgh. In both cases, the aircraft landed safely and no crew members were hurt.

An ADF release said the incidents were of a similar nature but weren’t related, and the RAAF’s fleet of 12 C-130Js, three of which are deployed to the Middle East, and about eight C-130Hs have not been grounded. No details were available as to whether the affected aircraft were C-130Hs or Js.
