Virgin Atlantic will adopt a new brand image and aircraft livery which it says will help its aircraft stand out from the crowd at airports around the world.

“Despite the most challenging economic conditions that we have encountered for some time, this is just one of many design projects that Virgin Atlantic has invested in,” said CEO Steve Ridgway. “We have been working behind the scenes with British designers to re-ignite our brand and are developing new designs for the entire fleet of A330s due to come into service next year.”

The new livery sees the Virgin Atlantic name emblazoned across the fuselage of the aircraft in a custom fine drawn font. In addition, the undercarriage of the aircraft now features the new Virgin Atlantic logo in dark purple, which it says makes the aircraft more easily identifiable when taking off and landing, while the winglets are now red with the Virgin script on the inner side, visible to passengers on board the plane.

The adjustments to the Virgin Atlantic branding come as Virgin Blue prepares to launch a new brand in coming months, which is expected to replace the Virgin Blue, Pacific Blue and V Australia names used across its three flying operations. Either Virgin Pacific or V Australia is expected to become the new name and brand, although a dispute with the Virgin Group is understood to be holding up the planned rebranding.
