Alice Springs Master Plan approved

written by WOFA | August 13, 2010

Northern Territory Airports has announced that it has received approval from Transport Minister Anthony Albanese for its 2010 Master Plan for Alice Springs.

The new Master Plan provides a number of investments in new aeronautical infrastructure to meet the growth expected over the next 20 years. The Plan will also see NT Airports transfer a parcel of land to the NT government which will be developed for residential use under a joint venture arrangement.

NT Airports CEO Ian Kew said that the new residential land would play a key role in supporting the community. “The Alice Springs community has a critical need for additional housing in the region and the unique characteristics of the airport site have warranted this in-principle support from the Australian government,” he said.
