The Virgin Blue Group has filed applications with the International Air Services Commission (IASC) seeking to reallocate capacity granted to V Australia on the Fiji route to Pacific Blue, and also to change an allocation on the Indonesia route from Pacific Blue to Virgin Blue.
On the Fiji route, Virgin Blue is seeking to transfer all remaining capacity granted to V Australia to Pacific Blue, with the changeover of carriers to take place between October 19-25. It proposes that the additional capacity would be used by Pacific Blue to increase services between Melbourne, Brisbane and Sydney to Nadi.
In addition to the Fiji application, the airline has also made an application to transfer the capacity allocations granted to Pacific Blue on the Indonesia route to Virgin Blue in order to “facilitate revised Group operations between Australia and Indonesia.” The airline said in its application that it expects to change from Pacific Blue to Virgin Blue operations on the route from the northern winter scheduling period.
