Chief of Air Force Air Marshal Mark Binskin has announced that the RAAF will celebrate its 90th anniversary at the 2011 Australian International Airshow at Avalon in March.

“The airshow will coincide with RAAF’s 90th Anniversary. So the 90th will be a key theme for this world class event which is run by Air Shows Down Under,” AIRMSHL Binskin said.

Avalon 2011 will be held over March 1-6 at Avalon Airport near Geelong, and will be opened to the public from 2pm on Friday March 4. The event will also be significant as it will be the 10th airshow to be held at Avalon.

As part of the celebrations, AIRMSHL Binskin said that there will be a major turnout from the ADF, including the RAAF’s newest aircraft. “We anticipate nearly all of Air Force’s aircraft types will be represented at Avalon next year, along with Navy and Army aviation assets. Dozens of Australian Defence Force aircraft will participate. We’re also planning major displays of the ADF’s ground-based equipment and capabilities.”
