USAF KC-X to face further delays?

written by WOFA | October 25, 2010
Is the KC-135 replacement program dragging on? (USAF)

US industry media is rife with speculation that the USAF will further delay its KC-X tanker replacement selection from November to sometime in the first quarter of 2011.

Evaluation of the tenders from Boeing and EADS North America for the KC-767NG and A330 based KC-45 respectively reportedly is taking longer than expected, and the USAF is yet to call for Final Proposal Revisions (or ‘fippers’) from the bidders.

Two previous attempts to replace part of the 45+ year old KC-135 fleet were aborted.
