Boeing’s 747-8 Freighter arrived at Le Bourget Airport on June 20 for the Paris Airshow after completing its trans Atlantic crossing powered by biofuel.
Part of Boeing’s five-strong commercial aircraft line-up for Paris, the 747-8 Freighter flew from Boeing’s Everett, Washington, facility with all four of its General Electric GEnx-2B engines powered by a blend of 15 per cent camelina based biofuel mixed with 85 per cent traditional kerosene Jet A fuel.
Boeing says the flight was “the first transatlantic flight of a large commercial airplane powered on all engines by a sustainable aviation jet fuel”.
The aircraft will remain on static display at the air show until Wednesday evening (June 22) when it will be flown over to Luxembourg to visit the headquarters of launch customer Cargolux.
