Airbus Military and Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at this week’s Paris Airshow to jointly develop and market the C295 Airborne Early Warning and Control (AEW&C) platform, as both companies cite a growing demand for mid-size early warning aircraft.
The MoU will see IAI subsidiary Elta Systems provide the C295’s AEWC capability with an Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) radar and integrated IFF.
“Elta Systems and Airbus Military are now conducting engineering studies to integrate the mission suite, including AESA radar, among other sensors, into the aircraft,” Airbus Military says.
The agreement follows flight trials of a C295 fitted with a rotodome dummy at Airbus Military’s Seville facility which began on June 7. The demonstrator is currently on display at Paris.
