TRIP orders nine ATR 72-600s, leases nine more

written by WOFA | September 13, 2011
TRIP has ordered nine ATR 72-600s.

Brazil’s TRIP Linhas Aéreas will acquire a total of 18 ATR 72-600s, as well as reserve options for 22 more under a split order-lease deal.

While nine of the turboprops will be ordered directly from ATR, the remaining nine will be sourced from lessors ALC and GECAS, with the first 72-600 expected to enter service with TRIP in October.

The delivery of the 19 ATRs will make TRIP the world’s largest ATR operator, with 51 in service.

Meanwhile, Taiwan’s UNI Air has ordered 10 ATR 72-600s.
