Qatar receives first 787

written by WOFA | November 14, 2012

The first of 30 Boeing 787s bound for Qatar Airways has been delivered.

An outwardly-spoken critic of the delays in receiving the 787, Qatar’s CEO Akbar Al Baker said: “We are delighted to receive our first Dreamliner, an aircraft which we expect will establish new benchmarks for reliability and comfort, when combined with Qatar Airways’ signature passenger experience.  Our decision to invest in this game-changing aircraft, which represents the future of air travel, reflects our firm belief in its unrivaled capabilities and the value it will add to our fleet and network expansion plans.”

Qatar’s 787s will fly initially to Dubai, London, Delhi and Zurich, with other destinations to be added as the 787 fleet grows.  The aircraft are configured in a 22/232 layout.
