Darwin has been selected as the venue for the 2013 Airports Association of Australia (AAA) conference.

To be held between September 17 and 20, the event will coincide with the major redevelopment of Darwin’s airport terminal to cater for increased growth in the domestic and international markets.

“The expansion will include extensions from both ends of the terminal and will provide capacity for our airline partners to grow their business and allow Darwin to develop services and international routes as Australia’s gateway to Asia,” Ian Kew, the CEO of Northern Territory Airports said.

“It’s the first time the conference will be held in the Top End so it’s an exciting opportunity to showcase not only the modern city of Darwin but for our industry colleagues to see firsthand the major projects and developments that are rapidly accelerating our economy and positively impacting our industry.”

The AAA expects around 500 delegates for the event.
