An Airbus A350 test aircraft has completed a week-long cold weather trial at Iqaluit in Canada.
The trial saw MSN3 subjected to temperatures of -28°C. After a cold soak period, the aircraft’s APU and engines were started, its avionics and other systems behaviour verified, and low speed taxi and RTO tests conducted.
The test comes just days after the same aircraft completed high altitude testing in Bolivia. Airbus says the two A350 test aircraft have now flown more than 900 hours in 200 flights since the type’s first flight last June. Three more aircraft will join the test program in the lead up to certification later this year.
