Road works designed to improve the access to Sydney Airport’s International T1 terminal commenced on July 22.
The road works are designed to improve the traffic flow around the terminal and will comprise a new carpark entry and exit, and a larger passenger pick up and drop off area. To this end, a new centre road will be built, and the car park entry and exit gates will be relocated.
“Our priority is to make it easier to travel to and from the airport by car, taxi and public transport,” airport General Manager Parking and Ground Transport Craig Norton said in a statement. “These are transformational road upgrades that will result in major improvements to traffic flowing in and around the T1 precinct.”
Traffic has consistently backed up along Qantas Drive and Marsh Street during the morning peak arrivals period. The construction of this first stage is expected to be completed by the end of the year.
