A SIA (Singapore Airlines) Airbus A330-300 aircraft hit its tail to the ground while landing at Yangon International Airport in Myanmar.
On Nov. 25, the SIA A330-300 with registration 9V-SSI was arriving in Yangdo from Singapore with 282 passengers and 13 crew members on board when the incident happened.
SIA said the plane suffered some damage upon landing, but taxied to the gate without any problem. No injuries were reported.
The airline said “Engineers assessed the damage to the aircraft, and a relief aircraft was sent to Yangon to operate the return flight,”
SIA states that they were investigating the incident with the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau of Myanmar.
Last Thursday, an SIA cargo plane’s engine pod struck the ground while landing at Sydney Airport as the Boeing B747-400F cargo aircraft “executed a go-around due to a rejected landing”, SIA said.
“As part of the investigation, the ATSB will interview the flight crew and other directly involved parties and obtain other relevant information, including recorded data,” the bureau said.
“A report will be released at the end of the investigation. Should a critical safety issue be identified during the course of the investigation, the ATSB will immediately notify relevant stakeholders so appropriate and timely safety action can be taken.”
