A senior Saudi army officer died on August 24 during a training flight in a Spanish Eurofighter Typhoon which crashed shortly after takeoff from the Moron Air Base in Seville.
According to reports from the Spanish defence ministry, the Typhoon struck the ground shortly after takeoff for unknown reasons. The Spanish pilot managed to eject before the aircraft hit the ground, but the Saudi lieutenant colonel on board was killed. A special committee has been established to investigate the accident.
