Cobham Aviation Services Australia (formerly National Jet Systems) has won an extension to its contract with Australian air Express, which will see it continue to operate three BAe 146QT freighters for the Qantas-Australia Post joint venture.
“This is a significant achievement for Cobham,” said Cobham CEO Peter Nottage.
“For relationships like this to stand the test of time, our service has to be industry-best for safety, reliability and flexibility. Cobham prides itself on long term business partnerships in this highly competitive industry and in what is a challenging economic environment.
Cobham/National Jet has been providing freighter services for AaE for 17 years, and with the latest $100 million extension to its contract, will take its relationship into its third decade. As well as the three BAe 146s, which provide overnight freight links between Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney and Adelaide, NJS previously operated Boeing 727-200Fs which have since been replaced by Boeing 737-300Fs operated by Qantas subsidiary Express Freighters Australia.
