Airservices Australia has been awarded a Certificate of Technical Achievement at the Aviation Rescue and Fire Fighting Working Group Awards in the US for its Fire Control Centre upgrade project.

The FCC upgrade involves the replacement of existing analogue communications and control systems at 21 Aviation Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) stations across Australia. C4i, which supplies the technology used in the upgrades, was also recognised for its work at the awards.

“The award recognises on an international scale the improvements in our aviation fire protection service that are being delivered as a result of this project,” said ARFF general manager Andrew Rushbrook.

“We are committed to being on the cutting edge of advances in aviation safety. This technology ensures in the unlikely event of an incident anywhere on the airport that Airservices is well-placed to respond within minutes,” he added.
