The first two Boeing KC-767 aerial refuelling tankers for the Italian air force (ItAF) formally entered service on May 17, following delivery and acceptance of the  aircraft on December 29 and March 1.

The Italian air force is acquiring four KC-767s to replace its ageing Boeing 707 tankers.

Since delivery, both KC-767 tankers have been engaged in aerial refueling training missions with ItAF crews, with final operational capability (FOC) to be declared once the ItAF receives its third and fourth tankers later this year.
