QantasLink announces new services for Cairns-Weipa

written by WOFA | May 20, 2011

QantasLink has announced the addition of two new return services per week between Cairns and Weipa, with flights starting from June 27.

The new flights, which will operate every Tuesday and Thursday, adds to the airline’s existing schedule of 12 weekly services (increased from 10 in February) on the Cairns-Weipa route, with an extra 200 seats to be available per week.

“QantasLink has operated to Weipa since 2001 and, particularly in recent years and months, we have responded to increased demand from the resources sector and local communities with additional services and adding capacity with the introduction of larger aircraft, particularly our new flagship 74-seat Bombardier Q400s,” QantasLink executive manager, Narendra Kumar said in a statement.

QantasLink’s 50-seat Bombardier Dash-8 Q300s and larger 74-seat Q400s currently service all weekly flights between Cairns and Weipa.
