BAE Systems Australia has announced the appointment of David Allott as its new chief executive, with effect from September 5, replacing the long serving Jim McDowell who will become the chief executive of BAE Systems Saudi Arabia.
Allott is currently the managing director of BAE’s UK based Global Combat Systems business, which designs, manufactures and supports land weapons, vehicles and munitions, with 5500 employees in France, Sweden, the UK and US.
BAE Systems group managing director, international, Guy Griffiths, praised McDowell’s achievements during his 10 years in leading the Australian subsidiary of BAE, including growing the company from 2500 employees and annual revenues of $400 million to more than 6000 staff and almost $1.8 billion in annual revenues today, and the acquisition of the Tenix Defence business in 2008.
“Among Jim’s many achievements in Australia have been his ability to build a strong team, develop a business that is positioned for continued growth,” Griffiths said.
