Air France KLM has announced plans to order up to 110 Airbus A350s and Boeing 787s.
Pending contract finalisations, Air France KLM will order 25 and place options on 35 A350-900s, plus sign a firm order for 25 and option 25 787-9s. The 787-9s will begin entering service with KLM from 2016, the A350s with Air France from 2018, but both airlines will in time operate both aircraft types, with provisional plans to have 43 A350s and 30 787s in service by 2024.
Engine selection for the 787-9s will be made at a later date, while the A350s will be powered by the Rolls-Royce Trent XWB (the sole powerplant offered on the Airbus widebody twin).
