ATR says it has received 145 firm aircraft orders for the year to date, a new annual record sales figure despite there being three months of the year remaining.

“This sales record, and the year is not yet over, once again underlines the relevance of our product to meet the requirements of regional transport, which continues to expand worldwide. In terms of savings, ecology, performance and comfort, ATR aircraft, and the newest -600 series in particular, have become the benchmark for regional airlines worldwide,” claimed ATR CEO Filippo Bagnato.

ATR says the 145 orders it has booked for the year to date represent over 80 per cent of orders for regional aircraft in the 50 to 90 seat range for the year. Among the 145 sales are firm orders for eight ATR 72s (four -500s and four -600s) for Skywest/Virgin Australia (with five options).

ATR’s backlog now stands at 275 aircraft worth US$6.2 billion at list prices.
