Singapore Airlines’ ‘SilverKris’ lounge at Sydney Airport will receive a makeover as the first step in a $15 million upgrade of the carrier’s worldwide airport lounges.
The update comes as SIA seeks to keep ahead of growing competition from airlines based in the Middle East and elsewhere in Asia.
The carrier has not released details of the updated lounge design, due to open in Sydney in mid-2013, but said it would offer an “inviting and exclusive contemporary space” based on input from frequent flyers. The refresh is being led by Singapore-based architectural and interior design firm ONG&ONG.
The airline’s Melbourne Airport lounge will also receive a more modest update including increased seating capacity and a new dining area. That work is scheduled for completion by the end of November.
