Qantas has unveiled its new uniforms to be worn by 12,600 staff from early 2014, designed by Paris-based Australian Martin Grant.
Thirty-five different garments will be produced, featuring French navy suits and white shirts, and featuring Qantas red “variations” of ruby red and fuchsia pink, recreating, Qantas says, “the idea of the Qantas triangle, across tops and dresses for women and on ties for men”.
The airline says some 400,000 garments will be made, using around 350,000 metres of fabric.
The uniforms will be worn by staff at 85 locations in 21 countries. Various colour combinations are to denote seniority levels. The uniforms were developed with input from the Qantas Uniform Panel, comprising 12 representatives of each Qantas ‘customer-facing’ department, including cabin crew and ground staff.
