New website bares all on airline safety and products

written by WOFA | June 17, 2013

airlineratings.com offers an objective look at airline safety and products.

In what is claimed as a world first, a website has been launched detailing in-depth professional analysis and reviews of the safety and products of more than 400 airlines as well as information on more than 30 of the most popular types of airliners.

airlineratings.com was created by Australian Aviation columnist and feature writer Geoffrey Thomas.

“While air travel has never been safer and we found a record number of airlines – 137 – with a seven-star ranking, while 43 have just three stars or less,” Thomas said.

“The rating system takes into account a number of different factors related to audits from aviation’s governing bodies and lead associations as well as government audits and the airline’s fatality record. We view safety holistically and objectively using only internationally-recognised audits from the most respected bodies.”

The website took more than two years to create. “The result is a website with the most comprehensive collection of independent information about airlines, their safety ratings, product quality, aircraft types, lounge reviews, and much more,” Thomas said.

airlineratings.com is contributed to by some of the world’s leading aviation writers from around the world, many of whom Thomas has worked with in his career as an aviation journalist.
